Happy Birthday, Me!
I got the best present possible –a gig! I shot a day on the Mystery Show, which is now set to launch on June 25. More details to come when I’m allowed to officially publicize.
We shot man-on-the-street interviews in Larchmont Village for a few hours. I used to think that “man-on-the-street” was a misnomer, because we’re talking to more than just men. Then I was told that I’M the man in the phrase. Now I see that the real misnomer is the street. I find it much more effective to speak with people once they’ve reached the sidewalk.
In other news, the first “What’s My Line? - Live On Stage“ went off great. I’ll post photos and summaries here real soon, and hope to make it a regular feature. Tomorrow night’s show will be a special one, so I hope y’all can make it.
Our first show featured as guests: Renee Strauss - “Sells Wedding Dresses,” Mr. X (Kaulin Boggio) - “Beth Littleford’s Pool Boy,” and James T. Miller - “Plays the Trombone.” Our Mystery Guest was the beguiling Sharon Lawrence. Hooray!
Tonight I’m off to a fancy dinner with a parent, a lady, and a good friend & his lady. No big to-do, but a good thing to do. This is the first year in a while where I haven’t turned my birthday into a week-long (or more) festival. Last year, for instance, there was an outing to the Angels game and a big game-playing party on the same day. That was preceded by various cocktail gatherings, followed by lunches and brunches, and plenty of other opportunities to shower me with gifts. But as I officially enter my, ahem, late 30s, perhaps it’s time to mature. Also, cash is nice.
Thanks for all the notes of kind wishes.
