Scrabbled
I should’ve left. I got beat. Won one game and lost three. Yuck. Another latecomer did show up and we got a game in just in time. Just in time for him to kick my rack-challenged ass. Turns out despite his tardiness, he’s one of the best players in town. I haven’t lost like that since… maybe ever. The next game I should have won but got stuck with the Q. It’s my own fault for not playing it and allowing my opponent to block all spots where I could have. I’m used to playing online where the other folks focus more on forming high-scoring words (usually via cheating) than strategy and defense. In person, with no anagram software to distract you, focus is put back on the board. Plus, my opponent tracked all the played tiles so he KNEW I had the Q. I’m not that advanced yet. Maybe I should start.
Still, a pleasurable enough night. There were, after all, Red Vines. And I was recognized by a fellow player who had seen the What’s My Line? show. Then I played an editor from E! who didn’t recognize me, despite the fact he’d edited my talking head on several shows. Fame is a funny thing. Also, it’s 9 points, depending on where you play it.

To add to the humiliation…..did you pay to attend this event?
Thank you for reminding me. Yes, the shame cost me $6. …but did I mention the Red Vines?
