Daddy had a good night at Scrabble Club.

After a horrifying stretch of weeks where I played poorly, losing games alternately by 1 point and 300+ points, tonight I won all four of my games. The prize? A full 100% return on my initial investment. (Of four dollars.)

I also of course have the satisfaction of having corrected my losing record and having bested some very good players (the last one, especially). And I’ve now won a night on both coasts.

The maddening thing: I have absolutely no idea what I did differently tonight. I don’t know why I went 4-0 tonight and went 1-3 last week. (Well, I mean, I know it’s because I scored more points than my opponents, but…). I didn’t play any more or less games in between meetings, didn’t study any word lists, didn’t meditate or sleep any more/less. It’s strange. It’s one of the reasons that I love/hate this game.

Tonight, it’s love.
