Over my left shoulder is a nifty span that cost about 15 million dollars and 25 human lives to construct, including those of the bridge’s designer and his son. When I see huge and beautiful public projects like this, I wonder if we have the courage, ambition, and risk of sacrifice to make them anymore.
I also get real hungry for pizza.
