I could, probably should, and actually might write a long essay on why this clip of Art Metrano is so wonderful. Mainly it has to do with his commitment and showmanship. But it’s more than that (otherwise, I’d be a fan of Dane Cook). I think it has to do with his underlying humility and heart. Also, it proves my theory that an artist’s job is to be specific. It would have been easy to just repeat the same joke in the same way, but to do it the way he does with each “trick” demonstrating a new variation on the theme… It’s at once stupid and transcendantally brilliant. Enjoy.
