“What’s My Line? - Live On Stage” #75 - March 24, 2008

Well, we did it. Somehow we got the show up and running in New York. A huge thank you to all who attended, and to the miraculous help we got from the crew who made it look like we’d been doing it on this stage since forever.

Photos, links, and more info to come. But for now, here’s the guest lineup…

Guest #1 - Patricia Porterfield - Hat Check Girl (What Was My Line?)
Guest #2 - Alan Rosen - Makes Cheesecake
Guest #3 - Liang Wang - Plays the Oboe

Mystery Guest: George Wendt

Live Ad/Sponsor: World Quizzing Championships

NOTES:

*Patricia Porterfield used to be known as Pat Finch. On February 2, 1950, she was the very first guest on the very first episode of “What’s My Line?” on CBS. She returned as a guest on the show’s 5th anniversary, and again on the show’s final nighttime episode in 1967.

She went on to appear in several Rogers & Hammerstein shows and retired to Florida.

After months of looking, my co-producer Jim Newman tracked her down less than two weeks ago and through the gracious sponsorship of a future panelist, flew her from her home in St. Petersburg to join us on our first show. I could not think of a better way to kick things off.

*Alan Rosen makes about 10,000 cheesecakes a week. He runs Juniors, the iconic Brooklyn delicatessen that’s been in business for decades. His grandfather started the business and Alan’s been running it just fine. Even better, he brought cheesecake for the entire audience!

*Liang Wang is the principal oboist for the New York Philharmonic –not a bad place to land for a 27-year-old from Tsingdao, China. After his game segment, he graced us with a solo performance.

*Mystery Guest George Wendt is currently on Broadway in Hairspray. 8 shows a week is hard enough –try doing it in a dress and heels! Mr. Wendt is the only Mystery guest we’ve ever repeated on our show; he was kind enough to join us on our Los Angeles run and help us kick off our run in New York too!
