Mr. Blackwell, RIP
Mr. Blackwell was a Mystery Guest on “What’s My Line? - Live On Stage” in December of 2004. While I’m grateful for every celebrity who takes time to join us on stage, there’s a special affection I have for those who did so before we had any reviews, any long list of previous guests, or any demo reel to prove to people that we’re not complete weirdos. Mr. Blackwell agreed to be on show #6 and he would have done show #1 if the scheduling had allowed. When people say that all he did was criticize, I have to smile and shake my head, because I remember how generous he was to me, and I remember the raucous cheer that erupted when he was asked to “enter and sign in please.” An audience not knowing who they were going to see was thrilled that a real gentleman had joined us. I’m glad I got to sit next to him for a little while –even if he didn’t care for my tie.
Two Influences, One Clip
Sad both are gone now.

Details to come. Here’s a slideshow…
Well Albee Darned!
Between us, we have three Pulitzer prizes, a Tony Lifetime Achievement Award, a National Medal of the Arts, a Kennedy Center Honors award, and a Circle M Day Camp Three-Year Camper Trophy.
But only one of us is considered the greatest living American playwright AND appeared on “What’s My Line?” in October of 1968.
That would be Edward Albee, who was kind enough to be the Mystery Guest on the Season Finale of “What’s My Line? - Live On Stage” this past Monday night. It was a privilege to share the stage with him –and who knew he was so funny?
Here’s Your Fine Finale Panel!
Look at this rhombus of resplendence!
Each quadrant a powerhouse of preeminence!
Each square a seeming synonym of alluded alliteration!
Come see them all on Monday night!
(Oh, it’s John Oliver, Raven Snook, Stephanie D’Abruzzo, and Austin Pendleton).

Panel Update for Monday 5/26!!
Just Added - Raven Snook!
She’s not only a fabulous entertainer and writer, she’s also a pal!
Come see the Diva herself on the panel this Monday, alongside John Oliver, Stephanie D’Abruzzo, and Austin Pendleton!
What a show!
A Night to Memorialize!
A show on Memorial Day? Are we crazy? The answer to at least one of these questions is YES!
We’re pulling out all the stops with a finale that includes “The Daily Show”’s John Oliver and Tony darlings Austin Pendleton and Stephanie D’Abruzzo! Join us, won’t you!
But really, it’s the night of Memorial Day, so you’ve already done your travel, barbecue, and/or shopping. Plus, hopefully, you’ve actually taken time to pay tribute to some folks who’ve sacrificed for the USA. Now, let’s have some fun and say hello and goodbye to “What’s My Line?” with our SEASON FINALE!
USA! USA! USA!
“What’s My Line? - Live On Stage” #83 - May 19, 2008
Info coming super-soon.
Guest #1 - Sandi Simon- Bra-Fitter
Ms. Simon owns and operated Frischman’s –the Bronx’s bra headquarters for over 75 years. Her daughters run BraSmyth. The panel guessed her line with only 1 “no” to go!
Guest #2 - Dick DeBartolo (Mr. X)- MAD Magazine Writer
Mr. DeBartolo is known as MAD’s maddest writer, having had his work appear in every issue for forty years. In addition, he’s got a wonderful connection to game shows –he saved “Match Game” from extinction and he worked on “What’s My Line?” for many years. As a special treat, he even brought and showed us Arlene Francis’s blindfold/mask from his personal collection!
Guest #3 - Rebecca Young- Plays the Viola
Ms. Young is the associate principal violist with the New York Philharmonic. She dazzled us with a solo piece.
Mystery Guest: THE AMAZING KRESKIN
Mr. Kreskin appeared as a panelist and Mystery Guest on the syndicated TV version of “WML” and has now done the same for our stage version too! He performed two demonstrations of his mental dexterity for our audience as well… causing panelist Shari Albert to audibly gasp as he correctly paired her card with the one that I had in my pocket!
