KITTY FELDE hosted KPCC's "Talk of the City" for five years. She wanted to be the next Vin Scully, but a lack of depth perception mandated a career change: public radio. She worked at every station in town, winning ten Golden Mikes, six State Bar Golden Medallions, two ABA Silver Gavels, and seven AP awards. Her courthouse reporting led her to The Hague and Africa, where she covered the war crimes tribunals for Yugoslavia and Rwanda. Larry Mantle invited her to join him at KPCC, where she has won several more awards, including "Radio Journalist of the Year" from the LA Press Club (two years in a row) and the Society of Professional Journalists. Felde is also an award-winning playwright. Her war crimes story A PATCH OF EARTH was produced at the University of Detroit Mercy last February. She's currently at work on a play about her trip to Rwanda.

LEN WEIN and artist Berni Wrightson created the horror comic Swamp Thing for DC Comics. Wein worked at Marvel as a writer/editor. He had lengthy and memorable runs on Amazing Spider-Man, Hulk, Thor and Fantastic Four. However, he is probably best-known for co-creating, in 1975, the New X-Men team that would eventually become the biggest-selling comic title. Wein had a strong hand in the creation of such characters as Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus and Wolverine (who had made his debut in Wein's run on Hulk). In recent years, Wein has devoted more of his time writing for animation and TV, including an intriguing work called Gene Pool (with Marv Wolfman).
